Lengthen a Too Short Shirt

I  bet you can't guess what this post is going to be about.

I have this lovely blue shirt for a while now, and from the moment I bought it it's just been too short. {probably because it was a size smaller than i usually wear....but i wanted it.} I usually wear it tucked in to a skirt, so it hasn't mattered much.

Until yesterday, when I decided to wear it with jeans.

You ever have those days where you are pretty much afraid to move for fear of your shirt riding halfway  up your back?

I can relate.

So here's what I came up with:

To replicate, you will need:

~the shirt you want to lengthen
~another shirt you can cut up/ knit material {in a complimentary color}

First, put the shirt on and figure out where you want to add the extra material. I decided to add two stripes starting just below my bust. Cut the shirt.

Cut a piece/pieces of your complimenting shirt to fit inside.

Get the idea?

Then, sew those suckers together.

{i also chose to add stripes to the arms....because i wanted to.}

You can make the shirt as long as you want.

You'll never have to worry about yanking it down again.

{hoo-ray.}

Happy Anniversary to Us

Two years....

...and we're still totally mature.

Growing up is for wussies.

So. Today, the 29th of May, is actually and officially our wedding anniversary, but we took this past weekend off and celebrated a little early.

We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant in St. G.

Mmmm....sushi.

And then we had ice cream.

And when I found out our hotel had a hot tub, I made Chris drive like a madman to get back so we could sit in it before it closed.

I really like hot tubs, okay?

Our gifts to each other.

{year #2 is cotton. very difficult.}

I'm not sure what kind of aura we're dragging around, but the pool and hot tub completely emptied a mere 2 minutes after we sat down.

Oh well, more kissing for us.

The next day our original plan was to go to Quail Lake, but after triple-checking the weather and experiencing it for ourselves on our way to breakfast, we decided that 30 mph winds and  a cloudy sky would not make for a fun boating trip. So instead, we just hung around the city.

Bought Chris some new shoes...

...and me a new shirt....

Where's Waldo, you ask?

He's right here.

Then we went and saw What to Expect When You're Expecting, which I've been wanting to see since the very first time I saw a preview a couple months ago.

It's hilarious, by the way.

After the movie we had a picnic in the truck {yeeeeeeahhhh....still too cold to enjoy outside}, and ended up with waaay too much food.

Fried chicken.....so good.

In a very long nutshell, that was our weekend.

And in honor of our 2-year marriage, now I'm going to tell you a story.

This is when I first knew Chris was definitely a keeper.

One night, after we'd eaten, we were just hanging out, talking. My stomach began to feel a little queasy so I figured I'd better tell Chris good night before something bad happened.

Once I'd admitted I was feeling sick, however, he decided not to go. He stayed. And probably got much more than he anticipated.

A couple hours passed, and my stomach got worse, and worse, and much worse. He offered to give me a blessing {aw, cute!}. I accepted.

He began the blessing and said, "I bless you that your sickness will be short-lived..."

And then he was abruptly cut off because I started puking my guts out.

He quickly threw out a couple more words and an "Amen!"

And then, ladies and gentlemen, he rubbed my back and held my hair out of the projectile zone.

When I was done, my face was tomato-red and extremely embarrassed on behalf of my unexpectedly-barfing self. I totally thought he was going to walk out and never say another word to me.

Instead, he started laughing, and said something akin to:
"Dang, I give a good blessing!"

I'm pretty sure that's the fastest answer to a blessing I've ever had in my life.
But, thanks to that, I knew just how great a guy I'd stumbled upon.

Thank you, and enjoy your day.

Total Eclipse of the...Sun

Any of you catch the eclipse the other day?

It was awesome. We had a stellar viewpoint here down south.

With nothing much else to do on a Sunday afternoon, we packed our sunglasses, our camera, and our cat, and headed to the golf course to camp out for an hour and a half.

This is my most favorite picture.

And my second-favorite.

Did I mention that our cat is awesome? And that he comes when he's called?

This is right when the moon was smack in front of the sun.

Any excuse to kiss and take a picture.

Our two-year anniversary is coming up this month! I can't even tell you how excited I am to spend the weekend in St. George, in the sun, at a beautiful lake, with my most favorite person in the world.

A weekend getaway is exactly what we need.

You know how when you grow up, sometimes life gets complicated with things? Things like wondering if you should buy a house? And where you should move? And which job your husband should take?

Things like when is the right time and where is the right place and what is it that you're supposed to do when you get there?

Our lives are going to be changing, in a big way, in the next couple months. Yeah, it stresses me out a little. But we'll get through it.

It makes me excited {and scared} like I've never been before.

It also makes me pray like I've never prayed before, and I know that He's watching out for us.

That wherever we go, whatever we do, it'll be the right thing in the right place.

I just don't know when the heck we're gonna get there.
